Remembering Virginia Tech

Five years ago today a tragedy struck Virginia Tech.

Vigil April 23 (Virginia Tech)

Silently the watchers filter to the green

No smiling faces, only salty traces.

33 points on a lonely compass

Never again to direct a mariner,

Nor any other soul.

I never knew you.

Your dreams and hopes were never my concern.

I could not pick you out in a crowd.

Still, the silent drops of my candle

Cry softly into the grass.

Mirroring the mourning in my heart

For a burgundy and orange love

I never knew.

The gulf of grief keeps us together,

Regardless of the roadways and

Forces of personal acquaintance

Pray for peace, people everywhere
